Tennis great Andre Agassi has admitted he tested positive for hard drugs during his career and lied to sporting authorities to escape a ban. Reports said that Agassi, one of the world’s greatest tennis players with eight Grand Slam titles, reveals in his autobiography to testing positive for the highly addictive drug crystal methamphetamine. The champion, now 39, also says that he has always secretly hated playing tennis and lived in fear of his bad-tempered and violent father.

Hong Kong Travel System Notifies People About Approaching Typhoons
Wednesday, October 21st, 2009Hong Kong – Officials in Hong Kong issued an amber travel warning for the Philippines on Wednesday, advising people to exercise caution when travelling to the country because of severe typhoon Lupit, which could hit the Philippines next week. The warning was issued a day after the new system was introduced by the Security Bureau. The colour-coded warning scheme was launched on Tuesday to help travellers better understand the risks to personal safety when visiting overseas. A Security Bureau spokesman said the system, which uses amber, red and black warnings to differentiate between different levels of risk, covers 60 countries that are popular travel destinations for Hong Kong residents.

By categorizing the sites that get links from Twitter, Chitika determined that the thing that Twitterers want the most is news, with over 28% of all traffic going to news sites. Movie sites took second place with 22.56% of Twitter traffic, followed by tech and gadget sites with 13.39%. Medical sites rounded out the top 4 with 7.98%.
Fed chief wants Chinese to spend
Tuesday, October 20th, 2009The United States Federal Reserve Chairman has called on China to ask consumers to spend more and to help address the trade imbalances that contributed to the financial tsunami. He also said the United States should reduce the budget deficit in the long term. Days before the Chairman’s remarks at a conference in California, the US government reported a US $1.42 trillion deficit for the budget year that ended on September 30.
Activists demand help for the poor
Sunday, October 18th, 2009About 100 people have staged a protest outside the Central Government Offices, calling for measures to alleviate poverty in the territory. The protestors said the Chief Executive, Donald Tsang, had ignored the needs of the poor in his policy address on Wednesday. Sze Lai-shan, the spokeswoman for the Society for Community Organisation, said working class people would not find much employment in the so-called six pillar industries the government planned to develop. She said they would be of greater benefit to professionals and the middle class.

Six in ten university students said they slept with a man who was not, in fact, their boyfriend. But many women have different motives, with financial or material rewards a major factor. In many cases the explanations were far more mundane, with a large proportion admitting to having sex just to ensure a quiet life or to bargain for household chores.

Mid-Levels flat sells for HK$439m

This made the 6,100-square-foot unit on Conduit Road one of the most expensive flats in the world – at more than HK$71,000 per square foot. The developer sold another duplex in the same building for just under HK$400 million. The Chief Executive, Donald Tsang, said officials would closely monitor market changes in the coming months. But he clarified that he wasn’t concerned about overheating in the luxury market.
